The AP gives a little
filibuster history. They conveniently ignore the
14 hour filibuster of "Sheets" for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. I guess they just don't want to embarrass the Senate's "elder statesman". Somehow, though, I find it hard to believe they'd neglect to mention this filibuster if "Sheets" were a Republican at the time or eventually became one.
